Landforms
I think this was the highlight of my week! We decided to practice our landforms in a fun and kinesthetic way. We were all laughing so hard!! What a great way to end our unit on geography!Sing It!
Reading Street incorporates lots of different ways to learn about a topic. Here we sing our song from this week.Outdoor Classroom
We had to take advantage of the fall weather once again this week. We took our writing/reading outside and worked for a bit. Then we had a big brain break! We practice teamwork, good sportsmanship, and exercised our heart!Frog! Word practice!
Word Study
This is what it looks like to study words in our classroom. On Monday our word masters got a set of words to cut and sort.(Be sure to click on the RESOURCES & INFORMATION page for more information on how to practice words at home).
They were challenged to come up with more words that could possibly live in their sorts. They made a list of these words in their word study journals. Every day there is a writing portion to word study, in addition to sorting, this was the writing for Thursday.
TAP IT OUT! This is such a great strategy for kiddos to use when blending sounds. You can see how Akira is using her fingers and blending out each sound. Click on the link to see her in action.
With the word study there are some FREE activities that act as an extension. One of them is a word hunt around the room, in books, or in brain.
They found the word "pad." Absolutely incredible!!
