Week Eleven: Painting and Planting!

What an exciting week we had! Thank you for all of your support this past week with our Fall Fluency Fair, parent teacher conferences, and curving the candy highs. You guys are awesome! We were so happy to have so many wonderful visitors join our classroom. Here is a peak into our week!

 Chief Editors @ Work

Our chief editors are busy at work editing their autobiographies! We are hoping to be published autobiography authors by next week! This has been a very long self-regulated project! We are excited to share them with you! I love hearing them read their writing out loud and pick out their edits!

Practicing reading through rhymes!

Continents of the world!

South American animals masks!

We love having parents volunteer in workshop!

Congratulations to our Proud Patriots!!

New Math Centers

We've got new math centers that help us practice the addition and subtraction strategies we're learning.

Pumpkin Study

Thanks to Scholastic, we learned about article text-features through an awesome pumpkin study! I loved the rich vocabulary we shared and deep, critical thinking.

We loved hearing back from our pen pal Mr. Holland and Mrs. Landis! The kids were extremely impressed by the art that he sent and they couldn't wait to get their hands on the cute book and snuggley animal she sent!

Practicing number bonds and fact families in our leaves.

 More Math!

Plants!

Every community needs wildlife! Mrs. Euhus (Mrs. Kimes mom) came and did a mini-lesson on plants and how to pot them! We are already breathing deeper!  Thank you Mrs. Euhus for such a precious donation to our community!

Stained Glass!

We talked about the history of stained glass and discussed where we have seen it before. We tied in our knowledge of the continents and dug a little deeper. We worked with spacial reasoning, scissors, and art to create fall theme "stained glass" art! The final products are hanging in our classroom!

Mr. Kime came to help!
