Rocks & Matter Making our Brains Fatter in Week 18

Welcome to week 18! It's been a busy week of technology, matter, rocks, informative writing, word studying, and telling time! Its a fun time to be in first grade! Below is a look into our exciting week. Click on the blue texts to see  us in action (videos)!

Our Good Citizen!

Starting our day in a happy way! Greetings and dancing always make for a wonderful start to our day. We have several types of greetings. Here you see our traditional greeting and our (elbow to elbow) Winter Greeting. Also, there is no shortage of congo lines in our class.

When You're Away

I will send you with a little letter writing project to share your adventures with the class, upon your return. We loved hearing all about Maggie's trip to Charleston!

Our Good Citizen is all smiles as he reads us a silly Dr. Seuss book.

TIME!

We dove into all things matter on Monday and on Tuesday reviewed with our phases of matter molecule game.

Then we learned all about the different properties of matter and went on a matter scavenger hunt! This was a serious blast! The music request was for nature sounds because "sometimes you go on scavenger hunts outside." It was nice to pretend it was a pretty spring day since our outdoor time has been so limited with this cold weather!

Hermit Crabs

Here is the first day of our rock study! We are learning to collect facts and data. These are skills that they will transfer into their informational writing and research projects! Followed up by a little bit measurement.
