Grinning BIG in Week Ten

What a gorgeous week it has been! We have gone creative these past four days. We spent our days planning and developing Noun Town, taking advantage of the fresh air and having class outside, continued work on our autobiographies, and diving deep in the cultures around the world.

Our Good Citizen!

This week was all about nouns! We started Monday off with a mini lesson on nouns (click here) and on Tuesday we had a scavenger hunt! Do you remember School House Rock!?

Click here to see our Noun Scavenger Hunt.
I hid slips of paper all around the room with nouns on them including all of our names and regular visitors. When students found a noun, they had to write it in the appropriate category (person, place, or thing).

Noun Town!

It's been the big ticket topic this week! In celebration of learning all about nouns we created our very own Noun Town! I love seeing a messy classroom at work. This was such a fun project that radiated collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking! Our favorite part is the mini people of us. Each student labeled their little person with the job that they possess in our classroom. See the progress here!

Number Bonds Outside

Since we had such a beautiful week we decided to take our education outdoors! In the company of the creatures of the grass and the fresh fall air, we learned all about number bonds and fact families. We had a mini lesson- brain followed by a break- group work- and independent work. It was awesome to see everyone engaged and participating. Fresh air is so good for our brains!!! We also enjoyed having the room to spread out and work independently or in small groups!

BRAIN BREAK! Tag you're it!

Independent or small group work. I LOVE this picture. You can see the wheels turning!

Bring it back together for some closure.
