What a wonderful week!! This week I was amazed as your first graders began acting as independent learners in a caring community. I saw friends reminding each other to turn in their homework, stay on a voice level 1, or where to look if they need scissors to open their yogurt.
We have been working further on routines and procedures as well as doing some team building activities and "about me" projects. We are beginning to gel and rely on each other for help and encouragement.
GROWING INTO A COMMUNITY
Come check out out hallway art! We wrote name alliterations with supporting details.
Mrs. Kime's Crayon Box
Wouldn't it be terrible? Wouldn't it be sad?
If just one single color was the color that we had?
If everything was purple? Or red? Or blue? Or green?
If yellow, pink, or orange was all that could be seen?
Can you just imagine how dull world would be
If just one single color was all we got to see?

Our First Grade Hopes & Dreams
In math, we have begun working on number sense. This means we are learning all about numbers, (from 0-120) how to read and write them and how to tell how many tens and ones are in each number. We are learning through games during math workshop, different partner work, and independent activity sheets.
Tens and Ones Quiz, Quiz, Trade! (Click Here)
In writing, we are writing our Self Portrait book. The students are writing a short book about their favorite things, family, and hobbies to share with classmates.
