GET TO KNOW OUR COMMUNITY!

Perhaps one of the most exciting things in our classroom is our classroom job chart! As of today, each of our community members is employed! In most cases, your child interviewed for their job and took an oath to do their job to the best of their abilities. They have WOWED me with their responsibility and community mindset. It's incredible to see such drive and initiative coming from the young!
Some of our jobs:
Chief Germ Stopper
Paper Master
Shoe Tie-er
Score Keeper
Door Holder
Security Officer

During Math workshop your child gets to travel from center to center with their Shape Group. During English Language Arts Workshop your child gets to travel with their Fruit Group. Our groups are leveled and ever-changing!

I try to incorporate Spanish wherever I can. Our Family groups are named after the Spanish days of the week and every month we have a new song or chant in Spanish!
Based on participation your kiddos can earn smiley faces.
If they earn more smiley faces than frowny faces in a
week than they get to watch Magic School Bus!

Here they are! The Community boxes! These are the boxes of supplies
that your students share with their neighbor.
I absolutely love our community boxes because they
teach community, teamwork, and sharing.

We made a Community Contract for our classroom. We have all signed and promised to treat our community and it's members in these ways. After we had been in school for over a week, we made a list of rules that we felt would be important to our community.

The Magic Marble Jar! I am sure you have heard about this one!
This is how our class a whole is rewarded. When they do something exceptional they get a marble. When the Magic Marble Jar is full, magic happens!!

Not pictured here is our ticket buckets. Each family group has a ticket bucket to work on filling during the week. They get tickets for all sorts of wonderful things and can loose them too. At the end of the week we count up our tickets and create some sort of graph. Then we declare the winners who's prize is sugar.

We have published! Your writers just finished a short book that helps our community know a little bit more about them! Come check out our Writers Corner for some good reads!
