Yipee! Wonderful Week Three!

Even though we had a short week, we had just as much excitement packed into each day! Here are a few of our highlights!

Greeting!
We start off every morning with some type of greeting. I love setting the stage for our day using kindness and hospitality. Ask your kiddos if they know what four things go into a GOOD GREETING!

Math Workshop!

We have been working hard on transitioning through our work stations in our Shape groups. Math Workshop has taken off! There are 5 different stations for our 5 different shape groups. Each station allows our mathematicians to work on a concept in a different way. Below is a perfect example of how our class is beginning to function as a community, dependent on each other. I love how the Rectangular Prisms are referencing their chart together to figure out where their next move is.

Right now we are working on everything tens and ones. We are practicing writing and reading tens frames and identifying tens and ones in numbers from 1-99. Below are a few of our work stations.

Tens and Ones Go Fish!

Falling Into Tens Frames

When they come to Kime Time, we are working on drawing tens frames and identifying tens and ones in a number.

Math Facts: Practice reading tens frames

Heart: Roll the two dice. Add the dice together. Write the equation and find the answer. Take the answer find the exercise hat corresponds with that number. Then DO IT!

SPLAT Championship!

These pictures do not do our SPLAT Championship justice! On Thursday, we had a championship of short vowels. 4 family groups, 4 fly swatters, and 27 first graders. Hyped up on Space Jam "Are ya'll ready for this" all four family groups battled for the championship crown (double the tickets). With swatters in hand, contenders splatted to identify various short vowel sounds in words or to give examples of words with a specific short vowel sound in it. The excitement and noise was almost unbearable! What a fabulous way to start our day!
